His pillow was wet, tears continued to flow,
Oh! Where is the day? This night would not go.
Decisions he made; he would never forget.
His wife and his children, oh the regret!
(You don’t know what you have, until it is gone.)
He reached for the bottle, awaiting the dawn.
The days came and went, they seemed like a blur.
He needed some answers, to fix how things were.
‘Go to your neighbors’, a small voice he heard.
‘But he is a Christian!’ the thought seemed absurd.
‘He has the answers, so do not delay!’
He decided to go, but just not today.
He laid on his bed, his burden too great.
‘Go to your neighbors, it’s still not too late!’
The call was so great, he got off the floor,
Put on his boots and went for the door.
His neighbor was home, his smile so warm;
He told him of Jesus, his life He’d transform.
It hardly seemed true, the words that he spoke.
It all seemed so clear! He wept as he broke.
The love of God flooded his needy soul,
He knew with no doubt that he was made whole.
A call to his wife, he did with no wait.
“Oh, do please come home, God has taken the hate!”
With his family by his side, his sins in the sea,
He could hardly wait, to be who God made him to be.
